The FJ40 Land Cruiser is one of the most sought-after four-wheel drives ever built, and the RV-UC wagon variant is the most versatile and desirable body style. This 1981 example, frame number FJ40-343292, carries its Toyota Motor Co. Ltd. factory build plate confirming model FJ40 RV-UC, engine displacement 4230cc, and colour code O-12. The vehicle has been comprehensively restored to a standard that draws attention wherever it goes. The sage green two-stage paint is deep and flawless, applied over straight, rust-free body panels. Every badge, every chrome piece, and every rubber seal is new or professionally restored. The sun visors were still wrapped in plastic at cataloguing.
Power comes from the legendary 4.2-litre naturally aspirated inline-6 petrol engine, wearing its original TOYOTA-branded valve cover, paired with a 4-speed manual transmission and part-time four-wheel drive with transfer case. Power steering has been fitted during the restoration. The engine bay is painted in body colour and presents as a showpiece in its own right. Under the vehicle, the undercarriage is cleaned and solid with no structural rust evident. All four positions ride on white-painted aftermarket 5-spoke alloy wheels with Bridgestone Dueler M/T mud-terrain tyres.
The interior has been completely retrimmed in black vinyl with period-correct ribbed seat facing. Front bucket seats and rear folding jump seats (both sides) are in immaculate condition. The perforated headliner is new. The grey moulded door cards and green-painted interior tub are factory-correct in presentation. The original FJ40 instrument cluster with 25,435km odometer remains in place along with the original steering wheel bearing the Land Cruiser badge. An aftermarket stereo head unit has been fitted in the centre console. The original gear shift instruction plate is present and legible on the dashboard.
The NSW personalised registration plate 81FJ40 (with Japanese text, a tribute to the Japan domestic market heritage) is fitted and included with the sale (if NSW based buyer). Vendor advises the vehicle is in registered and driveable condition.
