Description

A striking contemporary cage necklace built around a single large black Tahitian cultured pearl measuring 16.60mm - a size that places it comfortably above the average for Tahitian pearls, which typically top out around 14mm in commercial production. The pearl is near-round in shape with a dark black body colour and distinct silver overtones, giving it that cool, deep luminosity Tahitian pearls are prized for. Luster is graded medium, which is honest - the reflections are broad and soft rather than mirror-sharp, but the visual impact is still commanding at this size.


The cage setting is the design highlight. A lattice of fine 14K white gold cable-link chain wraps the pearl in a diamond-pattern cage, with small bezel-set round brilliant diamonds at each intersection point. Above the pearl, the cage chains converge into a flat oval bail pave-set with two rows of round brilliants. Below the pearl, a single bezel-set diamond drop adds movement and a fine finishing touch. It is a design that shows genuine craft - not a simple solitaire pendant but something with architectural interest. The 45cm cable-link chain terminates with a lobster claw clasp.
