The HQ Statesman De Ville sat at the very top of Holden's passenger car range in 1974. Long wheelbase, full luxury specification, De Ville badging, woodgrain door inserts, power windows, Statesman crest trim throughout. This example presents in very good external condition with a consistent white respray, correct chrome wire-spoke wheels, and all De Ville exterior badges properly in place. The body is straight and the chrome is holding up well for a 50-year-old car.
Under the bonnet is a modified V8 with aftermarket intake, four-barrel carb, and aluminium finned valve covers, paired with a long-standing LPG dual-fuel conversion (installed 1983 by G&F Autogas, Victoria). The interior carries correct De Ville woodgrain door trims and a four-pod instrument cluster, though the original steering wheel has been replaced with a later-model Holden item and an aftermarket Alpine head unit occupies the radio slot. An aftermarket sliding sunroof was fitted at some point and the headliner shows staining and minor sag around the opening, which is worth investigating for any roof-skin corrosion underneath.
