Married To Famous Artist And Elder Yala Yala Gibbs Tjungurrayi. Since 1995 Ningura
Napurrula Has Established Her Own Reputation As A Painter, And Today Is Represented In Major
National Collections Including National Gallery Of Australia, Art Gallery Of Nsw, And Art
Gallery Of Northern Territory.
Ningura Napurrula Depicts The Mythological Events Of Her Ancestors – Her Paintings Focus On
The Travels Of The Female Ancestor, The Sacred Sites She Created On Her Journey And The
Mythological Significance Of Bush Tucker Collected Along The Way. In The Creation Era, The Old
Woman Kutunga Napanangka Passed Through This Country As She Travelled East. She Passed
Through Numerous Sites On The Way Before Arriving At The Permanent Site Of Muruntji, South
West Of Mt Liebig. These Travels And Rituals Remain At The Core Of The Customs And
Ceremonial Lives Of Pintupi Women Today.
