Description
This is the real deal. HDT Build Number 1737, completed in January 1985, with the original Peter Brock-signed HDT build certificate in the documentation folder. The WB Statesman Caprice was already the flagship of the Holden range when it left the factory, but the HDT Magnum treatment elevated it further with performance and cosmetic upgrades straight from Brock's workshop. Only a limited number of Statesman Magnums were produced (approximately 120 total across De Ville and Caprice variants), and they remain one of the more desirable HDT products for collectors who appreciate the luxury side of the Brock legacy.
Finished in red with the brown Caprice leather interior, this example presents honestly for its age. The paint holds good gloss and depth across the major panels with only minor age-related wear visible. Chrome trim is present and complete, showing typical patina for a 40-year-old car. The interior retains the full Caprice specification including the electronic trip computer, factory tachometer, cruise control, air conditioning, power windows and the RTS suspension package. Sheepskin seat covers protect the front seats. The headliner shows minor sag, and the woodgrain centre console has some surface deterioration, but the overall cabin is well-preserved. The HDT-specific items are all present: Brock-branded steering wheel, HDT air cleaner with signature decal, Magnum badging, and the dual exhaust tips. The documentation folder includes the HDT build certificate, HDT warranty card, original owner's handbook, stereo manual and GMH document pouch.
HDT Magnum Caprices with documented build numbers and original Brock paperwork are increasingly hard to find. A comparable one-off example (Build #1271 in Tuxedo Black) was listed through Australian Muscle Car Sales at $65,000. This car carries genuine provenance and the kind of documentation that collectors pay a premium for.
