1973 Chrysler Charger VH R/T | 2-Door Coupe | 351 V8 (5.2L listed / 5.8L fitted) | Automatic | Rear Wheel Drive | 252,400km | 4 Seats | Orange

Description

Few Australian cars stir the blood like a Charger in full R/T war paint. This 1973 example wears the complete package: Vitamin C orange paint, the black R/T stripe with a number "4" Bathurst homage on the front guard, Hemi badges, rear louvres, and the distinctive engine-turned aluminium dashboard that was the hallmark of every R/T. Under the bonnet sits a Chrysler 351 Hemi V8 (engine number R351B00209) backed by a TorqueFlite automatic, and the vendor advises it makes 282.2 rwhp on the dyno. That is serious grunt from a properly set up big-block Charger.

The orange paint presents with excellent gloss and depth across all panels. Panel alignment is consistent from bonnet to boot, with even gaps throughout. The black R/T stripe package runs the full length of the car and is cleanly applied. Chrome bumpers, door handles, and window surrounds are all bright and in good condition. The car sits on polished aftermarket slotted alloy mag wheels (approximately 15-inch) with Kumho tyres showing good tread. The interior is trimmed in black vinyl with horizontal-pleat bucket seats front and rear, all in very good condition with only minor age-related wear on the driver's bolster. The engine-turned aluminium centre console and dashboard fascia are in excellent shape. An aftermarket three-spoke steering wheel has been fitted.

Buyers should note some important details. The chassis number (VJ7H29DE010387) carries a VJ prefix, and the engine code position in the VIN indicates a 318 V8 was the original factory fitment. The 351 Hemi currently fitted is not the original engine for this chassis. The "Hemi 6 Pack" decals on the rear quarters reference a triple-carburettor setup, but the engine runs a single four-barrel carburettor. This is best understood as a VJ Charger with comprehensive R/T tribute presentation and a 351 Hemi V8 upgrade, rather than a factory-original R/T. With that context, it is a seriously well-presented Charger with genuine big-block Hemi power, the right look, and the performance to back it up.

Well-executed Charger R/T tributes with 351 Hemi V8 power typically trade between A$60,000 and A$120,000 depending on build quality and presentation. This one presents at the higher end of that range in terms of cosmetic condition and mechanical specification.
