1978 Dodge Fargo Power Wagon | Single Cab Utility | 400ci Big Block V8 | 3-Speed Automatic | Four-Wheel Drive | 11,562 Miles | Teal Green Sunfire Metallic | 2 Seats | Left Hand Drive
Description
The Dodge Power Wagon is one of the original American four-wheel-drive trucks, and this 1978 W10 Fargo wears the badge with real conviction. Originally sold through the Canadian market (confirmed by the combined Dodge/Fargo/Plymouth/DeSoto data plate), it packs a 400 cubic inch big block V8 that has been treated to a Purple camshaft, extractors and a four-barrel carburettor for a properly menacing idle note. Power goes through a three-speed TorqueFlite automatic and a full transfer case with high, low and locking positions in both ranges.
The Teal Green Sunfire Metallic paint is the first thing you notice, and it is superb. Deep gloss, strong metallic flake, straight panels across the entire body. Gold pinstriping with decorative scroll artwork runs the full length of the truck, including an ornate cartouche design on the tailgate that gives this thing genuine show presence. Twin chrome vertical exhaust stacks rise behind the cab for that unmistakable CB-era truck look. The bed floor has been fitted with varnished hardwood slats held down with polished chrome strips, and it presents beautifully. Aftermarket polished alloy wheels wear Kenda Klever M/T tyres with strong tread, and chrome west coast mirrors complete the profile.
Inside, the black vinyl bench seat with houndstooth cloth insert shows almost no wear, backing up the 11,562 miles on the odometer. The factory dash is complete with the original gauge cluster, brushed aluminium surround, and all four auxiliary gauges reading correctly. A floor-mounted transfer case lever sits between the seats. The engine bay is honest rather than show-detailed, with the 400 big block wearing red valve covers, chrome open-element air cleaner and braided lines. Vendor advises the engine and chassis are non-matching numbers.
American big block 4x4 utes with this level of presentation and this few miles are genuinely hard to find.
