1964 Cadillac DeVille 4-Door Sedan - Ebony Black - 94,227 Miles - 429ci 7.0L V8, Automatic - Full Chrome, Whitewalls, Last of the Fins
Price Guide: $35,000 - $55,000
The last of the dramatic fin-era Cadillacs, in factory Ebony Black with original navy blue vinyl interior, full chrome, and whitewalls. One of the most visually commanding American luxury cars ever made.
Description
The 1964 Cadillac DeVille 4-Door Sedan holds a particular place in automotive history. It was the final year of the dramatic tailfin styling that defined Cadillac's golden era before the bodywork was substantially cleaned up for 1965. These are cars that do not require context. The proportions, the chrome, the fins, the Comfort Control climate system, the 429 cubic inch V8 whisper-quiet behind a long black hood, all of it combines to produce something that simply cannot be replicated. The Fisher Body tag in the door jamb confirms Paint Code 26, Ebony Black, factory correct.
Photos across 29 images confirm a strong, honest example. The Ebony Black paint carries deep gloss and strong reflections across all body panels, with consistent panel gaps and straight body lines throughout. The full-width horizontal chrome grille is intact with age-appropriate patina rather than heavy pitting. Chrome bumpers front and rear, quad headlight bezels, window surrounds, DeVille script badges, and the signature fin-tip chrome trim are all present and correct. Whitewall tyres on period-correct chrome hub caps suit the car perfectly. Inside, the dark navy blue vinyl bench seats front and rear show honest surface wear and creasing consistent with 94,000 miles of use, without tears or splits. Door panels with original patterned lower sections and chrome trim strips are intact on all four doors. The original Cadillac "Comfort Control" automatic climate panel is present on the dashboard, a premium factory feature. The period Cadillac steering wheel with gold crest horn button is original and intact. One wheel cover is currently stored loose in the rear cabin and will need refitting. A rare period accessory is noted in photos: what appears to be an in-dash RCA victrola record player visible in the rear cabin area, a desirable and unusual factory option worth verifying. The engine bay shows the 429ci V8 in factory-correct teal paint, with 4-barrel Rochester carburettor, and original presentation throughout, consistent with an unrestored survivor. The trunk is functional with spare wheel present in its original cover. The odometer reads 94,227 miles, confirmed in photos, with consistent alignment suggesting the reading is unaltered.
The 1964 DeVille occupies a genuine sweet spot in the collector market. These are the last of the dramatic-era cars, and values have been rising steadily. Comparable examples in the US market have been asking $25,000 to $45,000 USD for driver-quality cars, with well-presented examples reaching higher. The combination of factory Ebony Black, full chrome, whitewalls, confirmed factory body tag, and the potential rare record player option makes this a car worth serious attention.
