Description
The FJ40 Land Cruiser is one of the most iconic four-wheel-drive platforms ever built, and this 1976 example has been transformed into a serious restomod that combines classic FJ40 bones with a far more potent drivetrain. The vendor advises this was a professionally built conversion centred around a 350 Chevrolet V8, backed by a Turbo 400 automatic transmission and a full All-Marques 4WD conversion including a purpose-built bellhousing, transfer case, and splitter box delivering both high and low range. The engine is properly set up with headers, alloy inlet manifold, HEI ignition, Holley carburettor with regulator, and a new starter motor. Power steering is fitted. This is a capable build, not a rough backyard job.
The burgundy body presents very well, with the paint holding excellent gloss and the panels presenting straight and clean. The FJ40 wears a fibreglass bonnet, front wings, doors, and tailgate, which reduces weight compared to the original steel panels and eliminates corrosion from those components entirely. ARB steel bull bars are fitted front and rear, with the rear bar featuring a swing-out spare carrier. A Warn winch with remote is mounted up front, and a pair of driving lights are fitted to the front bar. Mickey Thompson 35x12.50 R15LT Baja tyres on 15x10 alloy rims complete the business end. Inside, a full roll cage and side protection bars are fitted, the cabin is trimmed with custom door panels including Sony speakers, and a Sony head unit with CD/MP3 capability is installed. A fire extinguisher is mounted to the cage. The interior is clean and well-presented, consistent with the overall quality of the build.
