"The King" from 2019 is a bold, vivid canvas featuring three green parrots or macaws against a luminous yellow ground with vertical dripping paint lines in red, orange, and teal. The central bird is captured with wings spread in flight while the others perch and hover. The image has a triumphant, joyful energy that justifies the title. At 75 x 100 cm on canvas, this is the largest of the three Messiah works in this sale and arguably the most striking. Fully inscribed by the artist on the verso.<br>
