A confident large-format entry in ISHISHI's coloured pencil series, this piece features the artist's characteristic Escher-inspired architectural labyrinth. Staircases lead nowhere and everywhere simultaneously. Arched doorways open onto more arches. Domed structures and winding pathways fill the composition with a restless, exploratory energy. The palette is softer than some works in this series, favouring pinks, mauves, lavenders, blues, warm oranges, olive greens, and grays to create an atmosphere somewhere between a medieval fantasy and a fever dream of Eastern classical architecture. Technical execution is accomplished throughout.

Signed "ISHISHI" lower right in red pencil. Estimated value range for works of this type by emerging artists: $100 to $400.
