The Holden HZ Sandman is as Australian as it gets. Produced from 1977 to 1980, the Sandman panel van captured the spirit of a generation, combining the practicality of a working body with the style and attitude of the era. This 1977 example has been built as a tribute to the factory Sandman specification and the work is impressive. It wears the period-correct Lime Green finish with blue and white Sandman graphics, carries the roof rack and tow bar, and rides on polished multi-spoke alloys that suit the era perfectly.
Vendor advises the body was removed and repainted, all new bushes fitted, the 253ci V8 was rebuilt, the gearbox reconditioned, and new seats, carpet, roof lining and centre console were installed. The undercarriage tells the same story, with a black-painted floor pan, red-finished suspension arms and steering components, and a new stainless dual exhaust system running to side exits. The vehicle holds a Queensland Modification Plate (Certificate No. 1365434, dated 30/06/26, Modification Codes LA1, LB2, LK1), confirming Queensland engineering certification for the modifications carried out.
Inside, the cargo area has been lined with grey material and fitted with LED strip lighting along the tailgate opening, making it as usable as it is presentable.
