About This Valiant
The AP6 Valiant was the last of Chrysler Australia's pre-metric generation, built before the more familiar VC/VE models arrived. The Regal was the top specification in the Valiant range, bringing the full chrome treatment, padded interior trim and a long list of comfort options. Regal Wagons are genuinely uncommon survivors from the era. This example was sold new through Harden and Johnston Ltd, Sydney, as confirmed by the original dealership plate still present in the engine bay (Classification V6-4-879). The body plate reads BERG HA4002, confirming the Bermuda Green exterior colour and appropriate period specification.
The engine bay is home to a 5.9-litre (360ci) V8 dressed in period Chrysler Pentastar air cleaner and red painted block, presenting cleanly in the matching Bermuda Green engine bay. A TorqueFlite automatic transmission handles drive to the rear wheels, and the TorqueFlite badge remains on the tailgate. A Mark IV Allegro air conditioning unit has been fitted to the dashboard and is operational, complemented by power windows and a Kenwood stereo in the factory radio aperture. The Dahtone venetian-blind style rear window screen is a period accessory that adds to the car's wagon character.
The original brown vinyl interior presents very well throughout. Front split-bench seats are in good condition with period wear, rear bench is clean and supportive, and the cargo floor is carpeted. The Chrysler Valiant hub caps with whitewall tyres complete the period look, along with the roof rack and the full complement of Regal chrome trim and badging inside and out. The odometer reads 34,273 miles, which should be regarded as indicated mileage for a vehicle of this age.
