Overview
The Daimler Super V8 Supercharged long-wheelbase is the rarest and most desirable variant of the 1997-2003 XJ series. Not a standard V8, not a short-wheelbase, but the full-house flagship. Under the bonnet sits the Jaguar AJ-V8 4.0-litre unit fitted from the factory with an Eaton roots-type supercharger, producing approximately 370 horsepower. The combination of the LWB body and supercharged drivetrain puts this car in a class shared only with contemporary Rolls-Royce and Bentley products, at a fraction of the cost. This particular example was manufactured in January 2000 and has recently been complied for Australian roads, compliance date August 2026, making it a fresh and legal market entrant with no compliance hurdles ahead.
Outside, Champagne Beige metallic is a sophisticated factory colour that flatters the graceful XJ lines beautifully. The paint holds excellent depth and gloss across all panels, with the longer wheelbase body giving this car its unmistakably purposeful presence. Panel alignment is straight and even throughout, the chrome grille is bright and clean, and the factory 7-spoke Daimler alloys in silver with chrome centre caps are in good order with matching tyres all round. Dual exhaust tips finish the rear end with appropriate understatement.
Step inside and the two-tone interior specification confirms this car's flagship status. Seats, centre console, and door lower cards are trimmed in cream leather with contrasting sage green piping, while the headlining, upper door cards, and dashboard top are finished in matching sage green leather. Daimler "D" badges are embossed into the rear headrests. Burr walnut veneer covers the dashboard fascia, door card inserts, steering wheel rim, and centre console surround.
