Buyers should inspect in person.<br> <br> The largest and most striking print in the series, "Rainbows" depicts a bold rainbow arc (in vivid red, yellow, green, and blue bands) curving from the upper left down toward a ship's deck or verandah railing where approximately seven to eight Rainbow Lorikeets (one of Australia's most colourful native parrots) are perched in various poses, with two additional grey silhouette birds and a diagonal grey structural element (possibly a ship's boom or architectural support). The deep blue sea stretches to the horizon in the background. The composition is joyful, vivid, and distinctively Australian in character. One of four prints by Beckmann in this auction from the same 1984 coastal series.
