About This GTO
The VZ Coupe GTO was HSV's final coupe offering, produced only in 2006 and never repeated. The two-door fastback body, the LS2 6.0-litre naturally aspirated V8 producing 300 kilowatts and 500Nm, and the Tremec T56 6-speed manual gearbox combine to produce the definitive driver's specification of the GTO range. Manual VZ GTOs are materially rarer than their automatic counterparts and attract a significant premium in today's market. This example is Build No 0744 from a total production run that numbered fewer than 1,000 VZ Coupes in total, and confirmed by the factory HSV build plate as one of the genuine Australian-delivered Sting Red examples.
The exterior presents in Sting Red with good gloss and panel alignment throughout. The purposeful fastback roofline and the iconic GTO twin-nostril bonnet scoop give the car an aggressive stance that is unmistakably HSV. The car sits on a set of aftermarket multi-spoke charcoal alloys with yellow Brembo-specification calipers visible behind the spokes. Vendor discloses minor stone chips to the front bonnet leading edge. The headlight lenses show oxidation typical of a 20-year-old vehicle. The rear presents cleanly with the twin exhaust outlet, GTO sill badges, and the
297kW badge.
Inside, the GTO-specific black leather interior is trimmed throughout with Holden lion embossed seatbacks on all four individual seats. The two-gauge instrument pod sits on top of the centre dash stack. The Blaupunkt head unit and factory climate control are operational. The definitive feature of the interior is the short-throw Tremec gear lever sitting in the centre console, a feature that separates this car from the automatic majority. The front seats show wear to the bolsters appropriate to 172,242 kilometres. The rear seats are clean. Carpets are in reasonable order throughout.
The LS2 6.0-litre V8 sits beneath the functional bonnet scoop. The engine bay presents as used rather than detailed, but no visible fluid leaks are apparent across three photographic inspections. The factory red cam cover is intact.
